iPhone Cases for Women

iphonejunkieI’m an iPhone junkie. Completely. I’ve had 3 iPhones in the past year and a half.

Replacement #1. Quite simply, I put my phone down. Put 3 kids into their car seats and drove off. Five blocks later, I realized I left my phone behind. Came back and it was already gone.

Replacement #2. I upgraded to the 3GS.

Replacement #3. I dropped replacement #2 and the entire screen cracked.

Cases to me, as a female? I want beauty AND protection. Considering the phone is almost constantly in my hand or next to my ear, shouldn’t it look as nice as any ring or earring I am wearing? Seems to me cases rated the highest on sites like ilounge are very masculine looking. Anti-me.

Hello???? Women want protection too! If deodorant manufacturers can find a solution to ’strong enough for a man, but made for a woman’ with Secret, why can’t a case maker find a solution too?

I’ve read every single case review out there. Hunted high and low for a case that wasn’t clunky or masculine, yet still protected the phone. Specifically the front of the phone, now that I know what a cracked screen will cost you. $199.00.

So here are some real, clutzy-female-with-young-children tested reviews:

More iPhone 3G Hard Case – Noel Series Red: The nicest looking case I have ever had. The mirrored screen guard it arrives with is handy for a fast hair and makeup check. The downside of this case it that the sides do not wrap around the front of your screen. Because of this, your screen is not protected in anyway when it is dropped and lands face down. (And it will drop, face down at some point.) Another downside I discovered while using it is that it cracks very easily and the metallic coating scrapes off pretty easily as well. The mirrored screen cover is a magnet for fingerprints and it required constant cleaning. This case is not for the frequent Iphone user.

Case-Mate Barely There Acrylic Case: Sounded promising but maybe because the model name reminded me of a bra. The slimmest case I have had for this phone and terrific looking as well. The downside? Again, it doesn’t wrap around the face of the phone and is of zero protection to the screen.

More, Diamond Series 3g IphoneMore, Diamond Series: I was disappointed when this case arrived in the mail. I had ordered the clear version hoping for……um……clear. Turns out that it’s somewhat milky looking rather than clear. While the case is great on protection because it comes up around the edges to cover the front rim, it is a very bulky case. I also wasn’t that happy with the gummy texture of the case. (Think condom.) It wasn’t very pleasant to hold. Just saying.

Incase Frame Case: Mildly bulky, but I am probably spoiled by the slim-case profiles of the Barely There and the Noel. I’ll give this case a great review for protection. No, it won’t protect the screen as a whole, but it comes up around the sides of the phone enough to protect the front rim, and that is a plus in my book. The downside of this cover is that the clear back portion is a magnet for hand prints and gets dirty quickly.

iFrogz Luxe : Ding, Ding Ding! This perhaps has been my most favorite case. It’s a two part case constructed in hard plastic. While not as slim as the slim-cases I mentioned above, it still gets a thumbs up for not adding much bulk to the phone. It comes up and around the front rim edges, which is about as close as you’ll get to full protection without having to use some purse-like case. This case was on the phone that I lost. I hope the new owner of that phone is enjoying it too.

Mophie Juice Pack Air, Case and Rechargeable Battery: This is a complete MUST for your IPhone if you do any traveling or area heavy phone user. It won’t protect the front of your IPhone at all, but it’s a great battery extension. The Mophie Air is really not bulky considering there’s a battery inside of it. I found that it also doubled the life of my typical battery length.

And there you have it! If you’ve used a case that you’d like to share, please feel free to add it in the comments section. In the mean time I’m still on the hunt for the perfect “me” case.

Case manufacturers? Let the women on your staff design a case or two. We are IPhone junkies too, ya know.
