According to the Milwaukee/Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, a gentleman was able to recovered his stolen iPhone. After discovering his iPhone had been stolen from his unlocked car he went home and signed onto his MobileMe account through his computer.  Through the GPS software provided with MobileMe was not only able to locate where the iPhone now was, but a picture of the location as well.

He then text his phone to give the culprit an opportunity to return it , When no response was promptly returned, he went over to the police station with the location and the photo of the house.  The police  were then able to recover his phone, as well as another that  was also stolen.

I never felt a real need for MobileMe in my life however having lost one iPhone already this just might have titled the scale for me.
